Boka Bay, the only fiord on the Mediterranien, was added to the list of twenty five the most beautiful bays in the world.
Several smaller broad bays are united, forming one of the finest natural harbours and natural phenomena. Super Yacht Marina, Porto Montenegro is located in Tivat. Other major towns in the Bay are Kotor, Herceg Novi, Risan and Perast. There are two islets near Perast, Lady of our Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela) and St George, which are among the most important cultural and historical monuments of the region.
For its unique beauty, and mixture of different cultures, Kotor entered the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kotor is settled more than two thousand years ago. It was founded during the Roman Empire when it was known as Acruvium, and was first mentioned in 168 BC. From the Middle Ages is known as Kotor or Cattaro.
From 1420 to 1797 Kotor was part of Venice and its architectural influence can be seen on the city's architecture. Kotor is one of the best preserved ancient cities and fortresses in the Adriatic Sea. Its walls, built through centuries, are approximately 4.5 km long. At 260 m above sea level is the top of the walls, the San Giovanni fortress.
St Anne’s Church, the Romanesque church dates from the end of the XII century and has frescoes dating back from XV century. There are the other old churches as St. Luke, St. Tryphon, St. Nicholas, old town theater called Napoleon’s, the Maritime Museum and numerous palaces blending of different, especially Romanesque and Baroque styles.
The bay is surrounded by high mountains, and nearby are the beautiful beaches Jaz, Trsteno, Blue Horizons, Dražin vrt…
